Pottery Workshop in Singapore: Learn Pottery Making at Clayable
A pottery workshop at Clayable is a hands-on session where you sit at the wheel, shape wet clay into a bowl, cup, or vase, and take a fired, glazed piece home a few weeks later. No prior experience is needed. An instructor sits with you for the full session, so the pace stays comfortable whether it’s your first time touching clay or your fifth visit.
What Happens During a Pottery Class at Clayable
Every session starts with a short demonstration of how the wheel works and how to center clay before you’re handed a fresh lump to work with. From there, your instructor stays close by, correcting your grip and pressure as you go rather than leaving you to figure it out alone. You’ll learn to center the clay, pull the walls up into a vessel shape, then trim and smooth the piece once it firms up. A studio apron, tools, and all materials are included, so you can turn up in whatever you’re wearing.
Once your session ends, the studio fires and glazes your piece behind the scenes. Collection usually takes a few weeks, since firing and glazing are separate kiln processes that can’t be rushed. If you’d like to add a hand-painted finish instead of the standard glaze, the 2-hour packages pair a pottery making session with a painting session so you can decorate your own piece before it’s fired.

Why Clay Making Feels Different From Other Hobbies
Clay doesn’t respond well to a wandering mind. Your hands have to stay steady and your attention has to stay on the wheel, which is part of why so many people find a clay making session calming rather than tiring. A pottery class gives you:
- A break from screens and notifications for the length of your session.
- A reason to slow your hands down and focus on one small task at a time.
- A low-pressure setting to try something new without needing to be good at it right away.
Pottery Lessons for Every Skill Level
Whether you’ve never touched a wheel or you’ve taken a class before, the pottery lessons at Clayable meet you where you are. Beginners get more time on the basics, like getting the clay centered before it starts to wobble off balance. If you’ve had practice, your instructor can move faster into trimming and shaping so you’re not repeating steps you’ve already learned. Either way, you’re working one on one with someone watching your hands, not following a video from across the room.
Solo Sessions and Pottery Making for Couples
A pottery making workshop works well on your own or with someone else. Solo sessions are a good way to switch off after work, with no need to coordinate schedules. The 2-pax bookings are popular with couples, friends, and family members looking for something to do together that isn’t a meal or a movie. If you’re planning a date or an anniversary, our couples pottery sessions are set up so two people can work side by side at their own wheels.
