Pottery Team Building in Singapore

Looking for a corporate event that gets your team away from their desks and working with their hands? Clayable runs pottery team building sessions in Singapore for groups of five to fifty people. Everyone leaves with a piece they made themselves, along with a shared experience that sticks with the team long after the event.

Most office outings involve sitting, watching, or competing against each other. A pottery session works differently. Small groups sit around a table and shape clay side by side, which gives people time to talk without the pressure of a game or a leaderboard. It is a change of pace that works well for teams who already know each other and for new hires who are still getting to know their colleagues.

Why Pottery Works Well for Corporate Groups

Clay forces people to slow down. You cannot rush a piece into shape, so the activity naturally pulls attention away from phones and email for a couple of hours. That alone is a rare thing to give a team during a normal work week.

Working with your hands also flattens hierarchy for a while. A manager and a junior staff member end up with the same lump of clay and the same problem to solve, which tends to open up conversation that would not happen at a desk. Colleagues also tend to remember the afternoon they spent making a bowl or a cup longer than they remember a typical meeting or briefing.

For the person organising the event, pottery also keeps planning simple. There is no equipment to source, no separate venue to book, and no menu to plan. Everything happens at the studio, with the instructor handling the technical side of the class.

Three things staff usually take away from a session

  • A finished piece. Something to keep on a desk or take home, made by hand rather than bought.
  • A break from routine. No screens, no meeting agenda, just clay and conversation.
  • A shared story. Most groups end up laughing about at least one piece that did not turn out as planned.

What Happens During a Session

  1. Instruction. A Clayable instructor walks the group through the basics of shaping clay, either by hand or on the wheel, before anyone starts on their own piece.
  2. Making. Each person shapes their own item with help from the instructor as needed. No prior experience is required.
  3. Firing and glazing. Clayable fires and glazes every piece after the session, since raw clay needs time in a kiln before it is finished.
  4. Collection. Pieces are ready for collection once firing and glazing are complete. Clayable will let the group know the date.

Add a Tea Appreciation or Art Jamming Session

Some groups combine their pottery session with a tea appreciation workshop or an art jamming session to fill a full afternoon. Both pair well with pottery and can be booked for the same group on the same day.
